Description | Duties/Responsibilities
- Schedule and attend all practices.
- Teach students the skills required for competition debate events such as Lincoln-Douglas, Public Forum, Congress, or Parliamentary Debate.
- Serve and coach for a minimum of 3 league and/or individual tournaments as needed.
- Keep up to date with rules, procedures, and judging standards for various speech events.
- Assist students with research of debate topics, ranging from politics to current events.
- Model and support school mission and philosophy of the debate program.
- Create and maintain positive working relationships with all internal and external contacts, such as parent coordinators and other local league coaches.
- Motivate students through effective communication and evaluative feedback.
Qualifications
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Complete orientation through human resources including fingerprinting and background checks
- Complete a Rules Clinic through VHSL prior to the beginning of the debate season.
