21st CCLC Out-of-School-Time Certified Teacher
General Description
To work in partnership with school staff, community partners, youth, and parents to coordinate and implement an after school enrichment program assisting Dalton Intermediate, McHarg, or Belle Heth Elementary Schools achieve their mission. Contingent upon availability of grant funds.
Qualifications
- BA in Education and Current VADOE License
- Education or training equal to the knowledge, skills, and abilities of this position
- Background that indicates a working knowledge of youth development and programming
- Experience that indicates a commitment to viewing youth from an asset development approach
- Knowledge of current youth development and after school education theories and approaches
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent teaching skills and background knowledge in at least one of the following enrichment areas- government and civics, health and fitness, art, performing arts, technology, media, business education, entrepreneurship, cooking, and nutrition, or writing
- Exceptional student behavior management skills
- Ability to develop excellent rapport and build relationships with students outside the traditional classroom

Duties/Responsibilities
- Coordinates development and implementation of afterschool instructional program
- Assist site coordinator with enrichment supply procurement and purchasing
- Support afterschool enrichment teachers as necessary through regular communication & updates
- Collects monthly club curriculum plans from teachers; reviews and provides feedback
- Ensures afterschool club curriculum design aligns with 21st CCLC program design
- Plan and help teachers execute micro university lesson plans which draw connections between academic skills and enrichment activities
- Coordinates development and implementation of the afterschool Micro Society enrichment program
- Support afterschool enrichment teachers as necessary
- Plan and schedule monthly MicroUniversity days and relevant guest speakers
- Work with site coordinator to plan and schedule monthly enrichment and recreational field trips
- Develop and maintain relationship with school principal, teachers, and school counselors
- Meet regularly with program manager and lead teacher – enrichment
- Work closely with school day staff
- Maintain all necessary program records as determined by program manager
- Assist program manager in evaluating progress toward outcomes
- Analyze and apply information from periodic program evaluations
- Recommend program adjustments as appropriate
- Participate in all scheduled staff development, including annual VADOE 21st CCLC Grantee Institute
Special Requirements
- Criminal background check
- Fingerprinting and Child Abuse Index Clearance from Department of Justice
- CPR and First Aid Certification - preferred
Reporting: Teacher reports directly to the Site Coordinator
Performance Review
- Conducted jointly by Beans and Rice, Inc. Site Coordinator and RCPS Designee(s)
- Bi-annual
Compensation: $25.00/hr depending on experience @ max 12 hours per week
Length of Employment: Contingent upon availability of grant funds
School year - Nine (9) month position, September - May
Summer- one month position (July) - not guaranteed, scheduled as needed by program director; opt out permitted
Work Schedule: Some flexibility, generally 3:30-5:30 pm, Monday-Thursday, 0.5 hours on-site planning per day work must occur from 7-8 am, after 5:30 pm; Monthly Friday field trips or events, 3:30 – until.; monthly Community Nights from 5:30 - 7:00 pm.
