Out-of-School-Time Aide and Program Assistant
General Description
To work in partnership with school staff, community partners, youth, and parents to coordinate and implement an after school enrichment program assisting Dalton Intermediate, McHarg or BelleHeth Elementary Schools achieve their missions. Contingent upon availability of grant funds.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must have 1 year of college education; education background preferred
- Education or training equal to the knowledge, skills, and abilitites of this position
- Prior experience working with scholl-age children
- Prior experience in MicroSociety enrichment venture/agency area
- Experience that indicates a commitment to viewing youth from an asset development approach
- Ability to maintain appropriate boundaries with youth
- Ability to consult and involve youth in a variety of particpatory roles

Duties/Responsibilities
- Assist certified teachers with homework assistance, tutoring, and remediation activities.
- Provide one-on-one student assistance as assigned.
- Assist program director and site coordinator with maintaining all program documentation including but not limited to enrollment, attendance, assessment, parent contact, and safety records.
- Inform adukt family members of important schedule updates and other important information as assigned.
- Monitor the parent entrance and maintain early student check out procedure.
- Facilitate youth participation in enrichment activities thru MicroSociety venture/agency
- Plan and implement enrichment curriculum thru MicroSociety venture/agency.
- Maintain student and venture/agency records and complete required student reports.
- Follow school procedures as listed in the School Student Handbook.
- Set a positive example for students with respect to punctuality, dress, language, and behavior.
- Maintain all equipment used in activities and assure its safe storage.
- Plan for the safe operation of the program and the safety of all participants, including accident reports.
- Maintain a productive behavioral environment for all students.
- Inform Site Coordinator of behavioral issues as they arise.
- Complete all scheduled staff development sessions (6 per year) and weekly staff meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Special Requirements
- Criminal background check
- Fingerprinting and Child Abuse Index Clearance from Department of Justice
- CPR and First Aid Certification - preferred
Reporting: Out-of-School-Time Aide reports directly to the Site Coordinator
Performance Review
- Conducted by Beans and Rice, Inc. and RCPS Designee(s)
- Bi-annual
Employment Status: Part-time, hourly
Hours per week: Varies between 3-12 on-site; up to an additional 6 per week in office
Compensation: $12.00-$15.00/hr depending on experience
Length of Employment: Contingent upon availability of grant funds
School Year - Nine (9) month position, September – May
Summer – One month position (July) - not guaranteed, scheduled as needed by program director; opt out permitted
Work Schedule: Some flexibility, generally 2:30-5:30 pm, Monday-Thursday, monthly Friday field trips or events, monthly Family Engagement Nights from 5:30-7:00 pm.
