Job Title:      Secondary Assistant Principal (This position will be open until filled)

The position assists the principal in providing leadership for the instructional program as well coordinate the administrative oversight and planning of all phases of instructional leadership for the school, to include programming, administration, budgetary planning, and discipline of students.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Provides leadership in the development and implementation of the school's goals and objectives.
  2. Assists in the development and implementation of high-quality local assessments to meet state requirements and track student progress on state standards.
  3. Assists teachers and administrators in interpreting assessment and evaluation information in assisting with programmatic and instructional decisions.
  4. Encourages an inclusive environment of learning and leadership among staff, students, parents, and the greater community.
  5. Collaborates with other district personnel in developing and implementing quality educational programs and evaluations for all students including those from diverse backgrounds.
  6. Supports technology-based assessment systems.
  7. Assists in the research of educational materials and resources to enhance/improve instruction for students.
  8. Participates with the school board administrators in the process of interviewing and hiring new faculty and staff.
  9. Takes an active role in the district’s comprehensive plan goals and initiatives.
  10. Effectively communicates with staff, parents, students, and the greater community.
  11. Supports and participates in family/community activities.
  12. Actively participates in and implements a Positive Behavior Support system.
  13. Participates in and supports Response to Intervention (RTI).
  14. Monitors student behavior and maintains effective school wide discipline for a safe learning environment.
  15. Participates in developing school goals according to the educational goals of the district.
  16. Assists in guidance, supervision, and evaluation for extracurricular activities including, but not limited to, clubs and enrichment opportunities.
  17. Promotes an inviting school environment through assistance in planning, supervision and evaluation of auxiliary services including, but not limited to, instructional technology, custodial services, grounds/landscaping, HVAC, school food services, and front office personnel.
  18. Assists in records maintenance and the preparation of reports as requested by the School Division Superintendent.
  19. Participates in staff development for personal and professional growth.
  20. Follows all school and school division rules, regulations, and policies as well as state and federal laws.
  21. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
