Job Title: Business / Information Technology Teacher

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teaches secondary school level business and technical subjects including: business management, accounting, finance, entrepreneurship, business law, fashion merchandising, marketing, database administration, computer networking, computer programming, and/or cybersecurity.
- Demonstrates knowledge of planning and instruction delivery with project-based learning activities.
- Plans and implements the instructional program for assigned subject area(s) following the school and school division policies, regulations, procedures, and the Virginia Standards of Learning.
- Monitors student behavior and maintains discipline for a safe learning environment.
- Employs a variety of teaching methods and instructional materials to meet the range of student abilities and needs, including available instructional technology.
- Instruct students on the safe use of lab equipment and appropriate behavior within the lab and classroom.
- Collaborates with business partners to provide enhanced authentic learning experiences for students.
- Integrates student organizations leadership activities with curricula content and participates in after school activities within the school, district, region, state, and nationally.
- Supports school-related extracurricular activities and maintains positive professional communications with parents, guardians, administration, and colleagues.
- Participates in professional development opportunities for personal and professional growth.
- Models professional, moral, and ethical standards as well as personal integrity at all times.
- Maintains accurate student records as required by the school, school division, and state of Virginia policies and procedures. Maintains strict confidentiality regarding student information.
- Participates in the testing program by utilizing appropriate instructional strategies to assist students in the highest levels of achievement. Follows all school, school division rules and regulations and state and federal laws regarding testing.
- Effectively communicates with parents regarding their child’s educational progress via periodic written reports and verbal communications including, but not limited to scheduled progress reports, report cards, and parent/teacher conference days as per school and school division policies and procedures.
- Effectivity communicates with teachers, grade level specialists, and administrators on the progress and attendance of students.
- Works cooperatively with supervisors and colleagues in order to ensure continuous improvement in providing the highest quality educational program and the safest and most inviting educational environment.
- Fosters an inviting learning environment and high expectations among staff, students, parents and the greater community.
- Plans, attends and/or participates in special events as requested by administrators including, but not limited to, field trips, and school assemblies.
- Maintains a professional image in the school and community as a representative of the School Division.
- Maintains the appropriate license for the subject area(s) in the State of Virginia.
- Follows the regulations and policies of the Radford City Public Schools as well as State and Federal laws.
- Other duties as assigned by school administrators.
Minimum Training and Experience:
Must have or be eligible for Virginia licensure. Possession of a collegiate professional or postgraduate professional license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia with endorsement in Business & Information Technology. Due to the various courses offered in Business & Information Technology, specific industry certifications may be needed by the qualified candidate to teach courses where the students will sit for an industry certification test. Candidates with a Master’s Degree in Business & Information Technology are highly preferred. If acquiring a provisional license, must show continuous yearly progress toward achieving a clear Virginia license within the three-year period.
